Shumway

The village of Shumway was platted by Fawcett Plumb, a railroad engineer, in 1874. It was named after P.B. Shumway, a railroad official. Hugh Dennis had purchased the land where Shumway is located from the Chicago and Paducah Railroad Company in 1863. It is located in Banner Township.nty and National Road Museum in 2007 or 2008. It is located in Douglas Township.

Montrose

The village of Montrose was laid out by J.B. Johnson. Calvin Mitchell, the county surveyor, platted the land in 1870. Montrose grew and prospered because it was located on the Vandalia Railroad and the National Road. It is located in St. Francis Township.
